    The Gents’ Section at Conwy

This section of Conwy Golf Club represents the majority of members: all full male members are included. The core golfing activities of the Club revolve around these members; all standards of golf are catered for, from the elite to the handicap golfer. We have traditionally provided a friendly but competitive atmosphere in which to play golf.

Weekday golf is mostly social, although through the late spring, summer and early autumn there are two weekday competitions: a weekly Friday evening social competition taking varied formats and a midweek stableford ‘rollup’ competition. Our main competitions are on Saturdays: these are typically the formal named “board” competitions where there is an outright winner, the monthly medals and more social events generally played in two divisions according to handicap -competition is fierce and entry is booked online.

There are various individual knockout competitions: the Scratch Championship for lower handicaps, the Club Championship played off our Championship tees, the DL Jones Cup for Over-55’s and the Mellor Trophy which is a White tee knockout. There is also a pairs foursome knockout-the Beacon Salvers. Gents are always welcome to play in the Mixed pairs competitions, which are played on various Sundays.

Conwy enters teams in the Caernarfonshire inter-club leagues-the Eionion Angel Scratch league and the Norman Brookes league for gents with handicaps of 6+: players are always welcome.

Golf at Conwy can be as sociable or competitive as you wish, which ever form you prefer, the course will always provide a challenge.

  • Seniors

In our section, we aim to provide friendly yet competitive golf.

We are a long-standing section within Conwy Golf Club. Currently, we have over 100 section members, with ages ranging from 55 to over 80 and handicaps from single figures to the maximum allowed.

Our regular day for most competitions and matches is Monday, although we do hold Wednesday social competitions and friendly golf on other days of the week.

We offer an extensive and varied program of events. During the summer season, there are 24 inter-club matches played at home and away on top quality courses; as well as, several Trophy competitions. Through the winter season, there is a variety of team and fun competitions. In addition, there is a social programme which include away days, presentation, and Christmas lunches.

To take part in the senior programme, there is an annual subscription, which is currently £5.00. On joining, all new members are supplied with a welcome letter, programme, and protocol.

If you wish to join this active, friendly, and vibrant section of the club, in the first instance, please contact golf reception. They will be happy to put you in touch with a member of the senior section committee.
