Course Description
This famous links course, renowned throughout the area as one of the most challenging of its kind is situated at the mouth of the estuary of the River Conwy.
1st - 375 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 7
ORME VIEW/Y GOGARTH FAWR
A relatively straightforward opening hole. Out of bounds on the right. A ridge guards the
approach to the green which slopes from front to back.
Will Davis
2nd - 147 yards, Par 3, Stroke Index 13
MULBERRY LANDINGS
A well-protected green demands a very accurate tee shot. Any shot finishing above the hole will
leave a tricky downhill putt.
Will Davis
3rd - 335 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 11
PENMORFA
This hole follows the line of the Conwy estuary with out of bounds on the right. A good drive
will leave a short iron to a raised green which falls away steeply on the left.
Will Davis
4th - 393 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 9
SYCHNANT
With wind off your right keep it low off the tee. The line into the flag is the house on the hill.
With an up-turned saucer green this is not an easy par 4!
Philip Kirkpatrick
5th - 442 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 1
PENMON
A demanding par 4 usually into the wind. The line for the tee shot is the tunnel entrance in the distance, for the second shot avoid the greenside bunkers by playing long.
Eugene Garvey
6th - 177 yards, Par 3, Stroke Index 15
VARDRE/Y FARDREF
A par 3 which is guarded by deep pot bunkers on either side of the green. Club selection is the
key here.
Will Davis
7th - 441 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 5
THE DUNES/Y TWYNI
An elevated tee gives superb views of Anglesey and the Great Orme. Having negotiated the trio
of fairway bunkers on the right, a good second will find a punchbowl green nestled close to the
seashore.
Will Davis
8th - 435 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 3
Y CWIN FIC/VICTORIA’S PROFILE
Another long par 4 when played into the wind. The two-tier green is well protected by bunkers at
the front.
Will Davis
9th - 523 yards, Par 5, Stroke Index 17
Y CREUDDYN
The approach to the green is uphill but usually wind assisted. The mound is about 50 yards from
a green that slopes from left to right. Well worth the view when you reach it!
Philip Kirkpatrick
10TH - 537 yards, Par 5, Stroke Index 12
CONOVIUM
A ridge running across the fairway divides this par 5. Fairway bunkers have to be safely
negotiated if the green is to be reached in two.
Will Davis
11TH - 385 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 4
TARGETS
A tough par 4. Drive semi-blind over gorse. The green is well defended by bunkers.
Will Davis
12th - 503 yards, Par 5, Stroke Index 10
PENMAENBACH
Drive the tee shot between the three left side bunkers and the one on the right of the fairway.
Direct your second shot towards the marker post at the back of the green.
Emyr Ab Iorwerth
13th - 174 yards, Par 3, Stoke Index 14
PUFFIN ISLAND/YNYS SEIRIOL
A picturesque par 3 set against the backdrop of Conwy Mountain. The pin position on the two-
tier green will dictate club selection. A deep bunker left of the green gathers any slightly pulled
shot.
Will Davis
14th - 494 yards, Par 5, Stroke Index 16
DODYD
Time for your longest drive. The green is reachable in 2, but be aware that the ball tends to run
up the green! An excellent opportunity for a birdie.
Philip Kirkpatrick
15th - 153 yards, Par 3, Stroke Index 18
BILLETS/BILEDAI
An attractive par 3, but choose your club carefully, you are sheltered from the wind here but the
flight of your ball is not! If the wind is blowing it could be two extra clubs.
Eugene Garvey
16th - 363 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 6
THE WHINS/YR EITHIN
A narrow gorse-lined fairway where only an accurate tee shot will suffice. This is the start of an extremely challenging closing three holes where many good rounds have been ruined.
Will Davis
17th - 389 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 2
HADES/UFFERN
Another nerve-wracking tee shot which leaves an equally difficult second to a green surrounded
by gorse and sand.
Will Davis
18th - 376 yards, Par 4, Stroke Index 8
GARRETT’S
A semi-blind drive to a narrowing fairway traversed by a ridge, leaves a second shot to a green
protected by six bunkers.
